In recent years, the interest in monitoring operating conditions of freight wagons has grown significantly to improve safety railway vehicles. The research group Politecnico di Torino been working for years on development solutions effectively monitor passenger and rail As part national Cluster ITS Italy 2020 project funded by Italian ministry education, university (MIUR), collected a considerable amount data thanks wired wireless prototypes developed. obtained are used this paper validation calibration finite element (FE) model that simulates temperature variation cast iron brake block due braking operations an intermodal wagon. developed can be useful tool predict at wheel–shoe interface as function current since direct measurement is not easy perform.
